Leave me alone and I find things.
Leave me alone and I find things. Like somebody opened a ramen place in town. They make their own noodles and broth, and what I really intended to get was their soba, but a) it is much simpler than the ramen, with very little to it, and b) they were out of it. They were out of a lot of things today, because they were only open for lunch and are closed tomorrow and apparently make pretty much everything fresh.
That's ok. I tried their signature ramen. I wish I had something in the photo for comparison, but that bowl is big enough to stick your head in. It's enough for four people, I swear. The other thing, which I was intrigued by and had to try was their "okonomiyaki fries". I had okonomiyaki in Vancouver, and it's one of the things I'd say fits under the heading of Japanese food I tried and would probably eat again but it will never not seem slightly strange to me. Anyway, the toppings on the fries are typical okonomiyaki toppings. It's sort of like Japanese poutine? Yeah, no, those things taste nothing alike. The fries are pretty good fries. See pics for more info.

Oh wow. Yes please.
ReplyDeleteOkonomiyaki makes me ill.
ReplyDeleteNo, really. Something in that made me sick every time I tried it in Japan. I felt an edge of it when I ate yakisoba too, so I think it's in the sauce.
Not surprised. They put interesting things in their food.
