The weather was better today, so went on a leaf viewing jaunt. I'd have stopped and taken more pictures, but my dad came with so it was more of a long drive. However, we had lunch in Warsaw, so pics.

P.S. If you are ever leaf viewing in Western NY, Route 20A cuts through the heart of commercial Maple Sugar farm territory, so excellent for fall leaf color. Also good for maple syrup, esp in about February or March if you want to go when they are harvesting and boiling sap.

  1. Also though, it's weird that a lot of the trees still seem to be not fully changing their colors. I'm used to Columbus Day (and post-week) being pretty much a perfect fall foliage viewing time.

http://www.weather.com/maps/fall-foliage seems to show that it's actually right where you'd expect it to be... so wtf

Maybe the dry weather this year just means it won't be quite as spectacular as it usually is?

  2. There's a lot of weird mini micro climates because of all the hills and the lakes and the river gorges. Also, it snowed and rained and graupeled and went below freezing yesterday and last night in these areas, so a lot of the trees were denuded. But I agree. That magic whoosh all the trees change at once thing hasn't happened in some time. It's kind of a bummer.

The place we had lunch does all day breakfast.  http://www.silverlakefamilyrestaurant.com/  #helping
