Interesting preliminary study not trying to get kids to lose weight, just exchanging starch for fructose. I find the choice of fructose interesting, since table sugar is sucrose (glucose + fructose), but interesting nonetheless. At least they said they were looking at "surrogate metabolic parameters". My personal opinion is that weight is a surrogate, as well, but that's a different discussion.

  1. Sucrose isn't just a floating bowl of independent fructose and glucose molecules, for one thing, and it annoys me when knowledgeable people act like it is. It also is glucose, though, which I think is what they're really studying.

That said, I feel like we have a wide body of possible data on fructose, yes? HFCS is da bomb in such a study! Perfect!
