Went to "special New Years Day" yoga class today. Overall, am glad I went, although it was a harder level than I am really up to. Lots of balance on one leg upside down pretzel knot while simultaneously patting your head and rubbing your tummy. It's not that I can't get into the poses, just that I am not really in that kind of shape, so it's not smart to risk those injuries. I modified and did fine.
I knew I really liked this instructor from a different regular class, so that was one reason I wanted to go. She does a thorough warm-up, full body workout, and full post workout relaxation in an hour without making anybody feel like they shouldn't be there or are unworthy or what have you.
I philosophically like her very much, as well, although that actually makes it harder because I don't really want to be dealing with that aspect of my stress in public, you know?
It was definitely better than the sub for the regular class I went to yesterday. It's really difficult with the subs, because they are all nice people, well-intentioned, but they do their own thing, which is often not good for me. Like yesterday was too little warm up, quick run through things that could hurt your lower back esp without that warm up, then spend half the class on your knees in some way. My knees have enough issues, so that was kind of a waste of being there, as I basically had to go off and do my own thing for a while.
I tend to go even when there are subs because I don't want to miss the workout, but I am thinking I need to find some other thing to do or place to go for the times when there are subs, because it's almost always not the best experience at this point.
