I am finding it so hard to watch/listen to the news. I just keep wanting to throttle people.

On the upside, Connecticut may be falling into the ocean. I actually have no opinion on this and am being grossly inaccurate and sarcastic. Shake it, baby.
Respecting a person's religion, or lack thereof, does not mean treating it like a sacred cow. Respecting other people's beliefs does not make discussing or even challenging those beliefs untouchable. And no, "free speech" doesn't mean responsibility free, but that works in all directions, not just one.
Showing a clip of a mother talking about how it was a waste of doctor's visits and crying children to get flu vaccines only shows how utterly useless you are as a news organization in relating the real meaning of reduced efficacy for the flu vaccine. Not even gonna waste the space to enumerate all the things wrong there.

I find watching/reading the news to be a recipe for excessive upset when there's NOT a substantial amount of baseline stress in my life. In any situation remotely approaching yours I'd be in ostrich-emulation mode.
