Tomorrow is Veterans Day or Remembrance Day.

Tomorrow is Veterans Day or Remembrance Day. This year is also the 100th anniversary of the year WW I started. I remember my grandfather always wore one of those fabric or paper poppies, but it wasn't until I was much older that I knew where that came from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_Flanders_Fields .

Because it's the 100th anniversary of this devastating war, many things will be done over the next 4 years to commemorate it and its effects. Including installing ceramic poppies around the Tower of London. Quoting from one of the websites: 888,246 poppies have been installed, one for each British and Colonial fatality during the war. Presumably, that doesn't include any of the other combatants who died. It's a disturbing perspective on what we keep doing to ourselves and others with all these wars.
