Today has been 'interesting'. Rather than asking if you want the good or the bad, I will just go with the good.

Dad had his appt with the oncologist today. His white count is down. It's down to around 20K, which is kind of in the range of a super bad infection, say, although it's a different balance of white cells than that would be. It was almost 100K when he was in hospice. His platelets are normal (they were low). All his other blood chemistries are normal. There's only one palpable lymph node, and it's down to the size of a pea. The doctor said he doesn't need any scans. My dad said one of the nurses greeted him with "Hi, miracle."
What this all translates to is my dad is in the equivalent of what you could call a remission from the lymphoma. He still has leukemia (hence the 20K white count) and the secondary solid cancers that he had emergent surgery for last Monday, and will probably be getting chemo or more surgery for after Thanksgiving. He still has chronic pain, and other permanent problems from being so ill. However, he's lived past when they said he would die, and they do not seem to feel there is any basis for further pronouncements at this time.
So that's good.

I'm very glad to hear all that.
