Apples for Science: I ate them.
Apples for Science: I ate them.
The Esopus Spitzenberg was pleasantly sweet, crunchy, a tiny bit grainy, nicely juicy, and very recommendable. Would eat again.
The Westfield Seek-No-Further was also pleasantly sweet, slightly thicker skin (barely noticeable), texture was not quite as soft as but similar to a macintosh, so slightly soft and medium grainy texture, nicely juicy, also very recommendable. Would eat again.
I guess the reason they were both considered dessert apples is that they were detectably sweet in flavor?
I would love to get my hands on some Kidd's Orange Reds and some Cox's Orange Pippins again. They were really tasty, but I gather they are rare on this continent.
