Not that there would have been great odds, but I wish I'd placed a bet yesterday when I said they'd be putting in mandatory quarantine requirements. Scientifically, this makes extremely little sense. In every other way, though, it's predictable and probably seems necessary just from a public trust perspective.
The neighbor of the ill physician who, when interviewed said she wiped her own apartment down with clorox, wiped down her door and handle with clorox, and wiped down the elevator buttons with clorox. No omg, evac the bldg! No we're all gonna die! You are an awesome human being, and I love it.
I wish we had a public health law that allowed serious prosecution of people who not only deliberately spread dangerous and harmful misinformation about disease threats, but in particular those who used it for personal gain. Am I talking about the charlatans the FDA is going after, selling fake tests, preventions, and cures for ebola? No, no. I am talking about the politicians and their organizations using disinformation and fear mongering in our current election campaign.

They should hang out with the radicals and fanatics who have both convinced and violently threatened people not to allow polio vaccination of their children in Pakistan. Where they are having a record number of new cases of polio. Speaking of diseases that are both infectious and contagious and that were controlled through a combination of public health measures and science.
