Ah, yes, the panic is beginning. On the upside, Anderson Cooper continues to have intelligent and thoughtful coverage (as did somebody else on CNN). In that vein, Dear Congress, Now is the time to show true leadership and Not Panic. We do not need to Ban All Flights, and we do not need to Test All Passengers at All Airports. Please do not use this as part of your re-election campaigns.
You know what's awesome about this outbreak? The fatality rate looks like it's dropping to somewhere above 50%, even with the execrable care available at its epicenter. This is, so far as we know, Ebola Zaire, the one with the 90% fatality rate. Whether that means something that someone is doing is having an effect, or if it's something else, I have no idea. If it's really Zaire, though, that is something awesomely in our favor in this situation.
