Have determined definitively that I do not like spearmint for food/cooking purposes. We had a bumper crop (it's even beating out the peppermint), so I thought I'd try it. Nope. Belongs in toothpaste, gum, and maybe a few candies, possibly some form of alcoholic beverage, not food. Blech.
I like it in tea.
ReplyDelete...well, and soap.
Tea is good and there are a small handful of high-starch/sugar items that I have used it with that were lovely and surprising, but yeah, it's really easy to overpower a dish with it. You could try to make mint jelly and save it for some grilled or roasted lamb, that's my favorite (though I've always just bought the jelly because I'm lazy that way).
ReplyDeleteSomething about the way it tastes is just super unappealing to me, even in tea. However, I have not tried eating it in soap ;)
