Nice.
Nice. My mom just told someone that my niece is going to a college, some of whose buildings are from colonial times. That would be difficult, considering the school was founded in 1837, and most or all of it was destroyed by fire in 1896.
Like the reality of the place isn't enough, legendary and magical gilding must take place. I'm sure my mother doesn't actually know those dates. I'm sure she really thinks this colonial business is true. Somehow, known facts are insufficient, and a story must be confabulated. Like it wouldn't be enough to say my niece was going to Harvard (she isn't, but that's a very accurate analogy).
Why does this kind of stuff bother me so much? Truthfully, most people really don't care, but it just irritates the bejeezus out of me.
