Need to read more (i.e., validate information), but sounds concerning that generic drug manufacturers would object to safety monitoring because it would cost them money. It suggests that the brand name drug manufacturers have been supporting all the safety follow-up, even for the generics, and the generics have had little if any responsibility for this. No matter what, the generic drug companies would still not have any reason to raise their prices significantly, because they would still not have had to pay the costs of 10-20 years of work and infrastructure to get their drug to market in the first place.
